Biography

Bruce Cyra is an Attorney in our Seattle office, representing victims across Washington State who have been injured by the negligence of others. He has worked as a plaintiff personal injury attorney in Washington since 2013, with prior experience in Nevada and Seattle, starting out prosecuting and defending evictions, and representing others with will contests to domestic violence. In Nevada, Bruce spent many years representing home and condo owners in their fight to fix their shoddily built homes; back in Seattle he worked on child sex abuse cases involving priests, defended subcontractors from claims by general contractors, as well as gaining experience in contract and intellectual property claims. Since returning to Washington in 2013, Bruce has successfully pursued claims by victims of accidents and negligence, achieving justice for those injured by motor vehicles, on bicycles, by dog attacks, as well as premises liability claims such as trip and falls.
Bruce grew up in the Puget Sound area, graduating from Western Washington University and Seattle University School of Law. His first career as a news photographer took him to the Bay Area, Alaska, and back to Seattle. He covered a variety of events from the Iditarod Sled Dog Race to the Seoul Olympics, the Rodney King Riots and the O.J. Simpson trial. His work on a series about homeless youth in Seattle brought an Emmy to KING-5 News.
Bruce joined the Board of Directors of an IRS 501(c)(3) charity in 2006, and became the President in 2007. In that role he was the Race Director for a local USAT Triathlon for seven years, and is currently the Race Director of a local USATF Trail Ultramarathon, run annually since 2010. This charity and these events promote active and healthy lifestyles, as well as providing funds to the local Vashon Island community. When not working or volunteering, Bruce pays it forward by supporting others as he has been supported as a successful high school and college athlete (Track and Cross Country) and later an age group national champion in the trail half marathon. His experiences led him to become a USATF Certified Coach, and to coaching Cross Country at the Vashon Island School District. Bruce runs his own races as well, up to 100 miles (including six hundo belt buckles) over 29 ultramarathons.
